Mississippi Meanderings 2024

January 20 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.
COME OUT and join paddlers and other river people at the annual Mississippi Meanderings event at the National Great Rivers Museum on January 20th. All river people need to get together, especially during the winter. What better opportunity than this annual event with the Mississippi River Water Trail Association. Reserve early as the auditorium is limited to 90 participants.
This year our entire program will focus on Mississippi River source to sea paddlers while highlighting Dale Sanders. Dale broke the Guinness World Record in 2022 for being the oldest individual at age 87 to paddle the entire Mississippi River, source to sea, from lake Itasca in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico outside of New Orleans. That is 2300 miles and Dale did it in 87 days. Dale will be with us in person at this event.
Our program agenda is as follows….
12:00pm – Meet and Greet
1:00pm – Introduction and Awards
1:15pm – A brief history of long distance paddling on the Mississippi
2:00pm – “The Grey Beard Adventurer”, a 90-minute documentary about Dale’s record breaking paddle
4:00pm – Q&A with Dale Sanders
5:30pm – Optional Dinner at Old Bakery Brewery
